The 34th Annual Mississippi Valley Poetry Contest welcomes all poets to enter their competition this year, deadline 1 April 2007. Plenty of categories, including students and general adult. Learn more at the Midwest Writing Center.
Writing it Real is holding an essay contest. They are seeking creative non-fiction essays based on personal experience. Essays must be previously unpublished and can be up to ten pages in length, double-spaced. Deadline: 30 December 2006. Visit the site for more information.
MiPOesias Magazine is now seeking submissions of chapbook manuscripts. Send manuscripts 1 January through 1 April 2007. Manuscripts should include between 17 - 25 pages, a title page, a table of contents page and a page including your name, email address, and mailing address. This call is open to all poets, published or unpublished; prior contributors to MiPOesias Magazine are welcome. This is not a contest. There are no reading or entry fees. SRA is seeking creative, original, and imaginative stories and poems (fiction and nonfiction) from teachers in English and Spanish that students in Grades Pre-K�6 would love to read. These students would enjoy reading stories and poems about friends, animals, families, and cross-curricular subjects like science and social studies. These are just a few ideas to help you get started. Story winners will receive a cash prize of $1,000. Poem winners will receive a cash prize of $500. Visit the site to learn the details.
