Middlebury College students staged a quiet, congenial 11th hour appeal to Green Mountain Coffee Roasters for aid in halting Monday’s scheduled tire burn in Ticonderoga by International Paper. The students, part of the self-proclaimed People for Less Pollution, targeted the Waterbury, Vermont, company which, in conjunction with International Paper, recently unveiled a corn-polymer-based eco-cup, produced exclusively through International Paper’s food service division in Ohio. In a formal statement released Thursday, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters said, given the complexity of the situation and public concerns, “we have asked IP to postpone and reconsider the test burn.” Read more at the Times Argus, Vermont News.
